We used PID 1 and tuned and tuned and tuned and tuned until we got the best results we could with a specific set of operating conditions. Then, because we've had trouble with PID 1 in the past, we switched to PID 2 and, using the same set of operating conditions, saw significant improvements in stability and response.
The question - is there a known issue with PID 1, or at least a known issue using PID 1 for tension control?
