UDC6000 for CCR plant

We are looking for "software package " for CCR plant - regenaration section to replace existing controllers. We still using for this purpose UDC6000 (5 controllers) with software package for TDC3000 (Honeywell) thru SDI card. The plant is going to shutdown in next two month and no enough time for developing.

I'm not familiar with the TDC 3000. Can I assume that an SDI card is a serial digital interface card?

If you mean an actual UDC 6000 [p/n PC600x] (and not the similar-in-appearance UDC 6300), the UDC 6000 two options for serial communications; either Honeywell's proprietary DMCS protocol or an ASCII protocol over RS-485.

To my knowledge, the DMCS protocol was not publicly documented (I could be wrong), but the ASCII protocol option was accompanied by a detailed 150 page document covering the protocol.

If there is a commercial Gateway that translates from a more common protocol, like Modbus, that you are likely to find on replacement controllers, to either DMCS or Honeywell's ASCII protocol, I am unaware of such. But I'm not out looking for one, either. DMCS hasn't been supported for at a least a decade.

The UDC 6300, (p/n PC630x- ), had 3 options for serial communications:
- ASCII RS-422/485
- TPS
- Modbus RTU over RS-485

The statements I can find regarding TPS are from a 1997 UDC 6300 spec sheet:
UDC 6300 can be seamlessly integrated to Honeywell's TotalPlant Solutions (TPS) system. (TPS is the evolution of TDC 3000®X.)
MODBUS RTU communications is also available.

TPS Integration: (Does not apply to Indicator Models)
Baud Rate: 19200 Baud, fixed
Length of Link: 4000 ft. maximum
Link Characteristics: two wire, multi-drop RS485, 8 loops maximum / TDC, SDI IOP
Protocol: Standard Master/Slave RTU format
Security: CRC-16 Data Error Checking

If your system is using anything but the Modbus RTU protocol, then you have a challenge - either finding a gateway, software or hardware, that can convert the existing TDC protocol (DMCS/ASCII/TPS) to whatever your replacement
controller talks (probably Modbus) or re-writing the whole communications protocol on the TDC to accomplish the task of serial communications with stand-alone controllers.

Honeywell's UDC controller designers attempted to use a common Modbus map. So if your system uses Modbus RTU in some form (whatever TPS's version might be) then replacing your UDC 6300 with a current Honeywell model UDC 3500 might match very closely to what you're doing (depends on the application).

Honeywell's HC900 also has multiple UDC functionality in a modular I/O rack form, and talks Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP.
