Emerson has launched the Guardian Virtual Advisor, an AI-powered guidance system that helps industrial teams troubleshoot faster and streamline lifecycle management. Built on the long-running Guardian Digital Platform, the Virtual Advisor uses conversational AI and Emerson’s deep knowledge base to deliver direct answers, updates, and system-specific instructions. By cutting through complex documentation and reducing downtime, the platform supports critical applications in DeltaV today, with future integration planned for AMS asset management and Ovation systems.

To help save companies from these global operational losses, Emerson has recently released the Guardian Virtual Advisor, an AI-enabled guidance system built on its long-running Guardian Digital Platform. The application combines conversational AI with decades of accumulated domain knowledge, giving engineers and operators instant, practical advice. Instead of wading through pages of technical manuals, users can type a question in plain language and receive a direct response and links to detailed resources, reducing the time it takes to resolve problems.

From Data Overload to Direct Answers

For more than twenty years, the Guardian Digital Platform has been where Emerson stored troubleshooting records, hotfixes, and reference documents. The information was all there, but pulling it up still meant searching manually, which slowed people down when time mattered most. The newer Virtual Advisor changes that by letting you ask questions in plain language and receive direct, practical instructions and links to the right technical materials.

The software is intended for operators who need quick access to system information without going through extensive manuals. The Guardian Virtual Advisor takes detailed technical data and presents it as direct instructions. It also provides links to relevant updates or reference material. The purpose is to reduce the time required for routine checks and troubleshooting, allowing personnel to maintain system performance more efficiently. Initial deployment is for DeltaV distributed control systems, with future support planned for AMS asset management and Ovation power and water platforms.

AI Guidance, Built for Industry

Guardian Virtual Advisor differs from generic AI chatbots by tightly integrating Emerson’s automation platforms. Using natural language processing, the platform interprets user queries and delivers results backed by established references, including DeltaV knowledge materials and Books Online, and over time, it refines its responses, learning from repeated use.

The Virtual Advisor was designed for the typical routine maintenance jobs that often slow down engineers, including patch management, predictive maintenance, and license tracking. Normally, these tasks require switching between different systems or waiting for support. Here, the information is pulled into a single place, making it easier for teams to manage both everyday upkeep and unexpected issues without adding extra steps.

Let The AI Reduce Your Downtime

Instead of burying teams in manuals, Guardian Virtual Advisor jumps straight to the point. It gives system-specific guidance on the spot, which cuts downtime, smooths out updates, and takes some of the stress out of big decisions in the control room. And if a problem turns out to be more complicated, the platform doesn’t leave users hanging. Subscribers also get extra perks like system health scoring, antivirus checks, remote diagnostics, and service call tracking. Put together, it’s a toolkit that gives companies a clear picture of how their systems are doing and where the risks are, making it easier to plan ahead without guesswork.

Emerson plans to roll Guardian Virtual Advisor into more platforms, from asset management to power and water. The goal is straightforward: help plants cut through complexity, trim costs, and keep uptime as high as possible.
