Prepping for Pack: Chicago Hosts the Giant Packaging Industry Expo

Pack Expo is one of the largest trade shows in North America, dedicated to solutions across packaging and processing industries. Control.com will be visiting to see some of the exciting recent innovations, including robotics, automation platforms, motion, sensing, reliability, and much, much more.

Bosch Rexroth

Showcasing palletizing and control automation technologies, Bosch Rexroth will demonstrate a host of solutions for flexible consumer packaged goods (CPGs). Built on the foundation of the ctrlX automation platform, which provides logic, motion, I/O, and HMI threading between the entire system, the booth will also display cobot palletizing, mechanical conveyance, and linear motion.

IMI

A recent merging of industry leaders under one unified brand will be displayed at Pack Expo. IMI brands Norgren, Bimba, and Bahr will provide a joint example of the latest pneumatic and motion control innovations. The unified product offering displayed at the booth will include electric and pneumatic linear motion and motion control, pneumatic system components, and connected I/O networking systems.

FANUC

Packaging is not just a single application; it’s an entire industry that includes elements of conveying, processing, inspecting, palletizing, and, yes, packaging. Robots are used to fill many of these vital roles in facilities that crank out the same product day after day. Robotic leader FANUC will demonstrate some of the latest innovations for food-grade packaging and processing industries with a wide range of industrial, collaborative, SCARA, and delta robot configurations.

Rockwell Automation

So far, I have only seen one exhibitor promising to bring snacks to attendees, and for that reason alone, you could expect to find me at the booth.

Rockwell Automation’s OTTO Motors will demonstrate autonomous motion and logistics with a fleet of capable AMRs. Rockwell, the automation giant, will also showcase data solutions with FactroyTalk analytics, Optix, DataReady smart machines, and even a generative AI solution for PLC programming.

These solutions and more can be explored in the South Hall, booth S-1544, and adjacent tech showcase room S-504.

NORD DRIVESYSTEMS

Just as robotics provide a way to shift heavy lifting tasks to a machine, we must also consider the motors and motion systems that convey products between stations and around the facility. NORD will be on hand at Pack Expo to display a wide range of packaging drive solutions, including gear units, motors, frequency drives, and maintenance motoring systems, to ensure the longevity of the plant and the motion equipment.
