David Peterson is the Senior Advisor for Control Automation. He is a Mechanical Engineer who converted to the field of Control Systems Engineering and Making. He taught industrial controls and digital/analog circuit design at Centralia College in Southwest WA for 8 years before creating his own company with his brother Jon, also a controls engineer. Together as Peterson Brothers Automation, they investigate new ways to teach industry technicians and HS college instructors about new technology that can improve efficiency, reduce costs, and create positive workplace cultures. Now, David teaches Mechatronics at Clark College, as well as at the IT3 Innovation Center in WA. He built Clark's Mechatronics program from scratch, and he has access to the newest technology at the IT3 Center, which is open to middle school students all the way through industry professionals. David lives with his wife and four children near Vancouver, WA. His hobbies include climbing mountains, hiking, and 3D printing accessories for his nearly endless collection of Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and LED projects. His greatest blessing in life is living near all of his family, and playing with his kids, nieces, and nephews.
