Let’s explore the latest company initiatives and expansive partnerships in the evolving sphere of industrial automation. Schneider Electric breaks ground alongside Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe, beginning its Columbia facility expansion, which is set to enhance production of molded case circuit breakers (MCCBs). Across the pond, Lynx Automation and ForwardX Robotics are teaming up to expand European market reach and encourage wider adoption of vision-based industrial automation technologies.

Schneider’s Columbia Facility Expansion

MCCBs are tough devices that are usually enclosed in a sturdy, insulated molded casing composed of thermoset or thermoplastic. Their main purpose is to safeguard electrical circuits, devices, and systems by securely cutting off the current when a brief interruption or overcurrent arises. These MCCBs serve to prevent damage and maintain system integrity.

According to Grand View Research, the increase in electricity generation and data centres is a key driver for the rise in MCCB market value. The market size for MCCBs was valued at an estimated USD 6.23 billion in 2023 and is projected to grow by a compound annual growth rate of 14.0% between 2024 and 2030.

Schneider Electric held a ground-breaking ceremony to initiate the establishment of a 58,000-square-foot extension to its existing Columbia manufacturing facility. The facility expansion is part of a wider initiative, a dedicated investment plan for U.S. operations, focusing on strengthening energy infrastructure to support the growth in AI technologies. The expansion is intended to expand the SE’s capacity to produce MCCBs, meeting demand for energy efficiency, creating new job opportunities (over 200 jobs), and modernizing existing facilities to streamline operations.

ForwardX and Lynx Automation

Bringing machine-vision-optimized autonomous mobile robotics to Europe, ForwardX and Lynx are teaming up to enlarge the former company’s presence in Europe, strengthening their position as a broad-scope AMR solutions provider, and advancing industrial automation in society. Lynx will now serve as ForwardX’s official distributor across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg (Benelux).

ForwardX is an expert in vision-based AMR technologies and autonomous forklifts, with a focus on material handling solutions in warehousing and logistics and other industrial settings. They distinguish themselves by using powerful machine vision and deep learning to allow their robotic technologies to navigate and perceive their environment safely and efficiently.

Where Lynx provides integral value to this partnership is their expertise in providing integrated software and hardware solutions for industrial and logistics automation: warehouse management systems, pick-to-light systems, internal transport systems, software for scanning and picking items, PLCs, as well as tailored desktop applications and insight-generating analytics.

This strategic partnership dramatically broadens ForwardX's influence in Europe by using Lynx's grounded regional expertise, renowned industrial automation reputation, and industry knowledge. Lynx Automation will facilitate broader market connections and wider product distribution. Lynx also offers a hands-on approach with an open demo facility for ForwardX's vision-based AMRs.
