SMC Introduces PSE Series Remote Pressure Sensors and Controllers

March 18, 2024 by Bob Odhiambo

SMC recently announced its latest series of remote-type pressure sensors, sensor controllers, and system monitors, which are compatible with both analog and IO-Link control systems.

SMC, a global leader in the manufacture of automated solutions, has recently updated its product line-up with a new series of remote-type pressure sensors and pressure sensor controllers.

The new PSE series features a range of pressure sensors, controllers, and monitors, including the PSE5xx series of pressure sensors and the PSE200A/300A series of digital sensor monitors that are designed to meet diverse industrial precision pressure sensing needs.

IO-Link Compatibility and Flexible Connectivity Options

Equipped with two types of connection, the PSE series supports IO-Link connection depending on the application. Hub connections allow for onsite monitoring, setting, and measured value confirmation. Through fieldbus protocol, signals can be distributed via IO-Link master ports in direct connection or by using hub connections, further reducing wiring and installation space. When it comes to durability, the IP65 and IP40 enclosure rating in the variants in the series ensures that the pressure sensor and controller can withstand harsh industrial environments. This, together with UL/CSA, CE, and RoHS compliance certifications, gives users peace of mind when using the PSE series lineup.

Enhanced Monitoring and Control Features

The PSE Series also features two series of pressure sensor controllers, including the PSE200A and PSE300A series, offering monitoring capabilities. Equipped with a 3-screen display, the new sensor series from SMC provides comprehensive information on pressure data. With flexible connectivity options and IO-Link compatibility, parameters like sensor information, measured values, device information, and device status can be monitored through the user-friendly display, further enhancing industrial sensing technology.

To ensure uninterrupted operations and proactive maintenance, problem detection and real-time monitoring of equipment can be carried out by the sensors through advanced integrated diagnostic bits in the process data.

Application Examples and Use Cases

Key-lock, max/min value holding, and auto-preset are among the advanced functions embedded in the new SMC remote-type sensors that enhance pressure sensing across a wide range of applications. From steel tube piping to pressure control in hydraulic cylinders, the remote type of sensor finds its use in diverse industrial settings with compatible series like PSE57m-A/B and PSE54m-N/P that provide solutions to specific industrial needs for various industries.

With the growth of industrial sensing technology and the need for efficiency in application-centered sensing like pressure sensors, engineers seek solutions that offer efficiency, compatibility, and flexibility in a wide range of industrial applications. Solutions like SMC's remote type pressure sensor and pressure sensor controllers provide efficiency when it comes to pressure sensing operations, preventing malfunctions and further contributing to productivity in industrial environments.
