Short, Incomplete, and Unknown Exception Responses
I don't know what the leading character D represents. So, I'm assuming that the registers appear to be Holding Registers numbered as zero-based decimal values. I always start by reading one register with a known value to compare against to check and make sure all the serial settings and my...

Transmitter
It depends. If there is excessive common mode voltage between the grounds in the loop then ground loop current will occur that will either - be low enough to not matter - enough to offset the true signal - so much that it saturates the analog input and drives off scale upscale or downscale...

Restriction Orifice
A restriction orifice does not prevent reverse flow. A check valve prevents reverse flow. A restriction orifice drops pressure, A differential pressure across an orfice plate creates flow, as long as there is an open flow path. The flow through a restriction orifice depends on which side has...

Sensor accessories
Instrument vendors tend to offer the options that are common to their industry and if they don't, their competitors do. One typically "customizes" an instrument purchase by selecting the options for the intended service and its conditions with resulting field instrument model or part numbers...

Need assistance verifying calibration on a flow meter.
Sq rt of the normalized percent of max DP = percent of max flow (Sq rt of the normalized percent of max DP)^2 = (percent of max flow)^2 = Normalized percent of max DP = percent of max flow^2

Need assistance verifying calibration on a flow meter.
Assume the transmitter is configured properly, so 4-20mA = 0-1200CFM in square root mode. The Sq rt of the normalized percent of max DP = percent of max flow 375 CFM, 25% of max flow rate of 1200 CFM, is generated at 6.25% of max DP [Sq rt of 0.0625 = 0.25 = 25.0% max flow] 6.25% of 4-20mA =...

Need assistance verifying calibration on a flow meter.
I presume the IDP-10 uses pressure units for its LRV and URV pressure settings. What are the LRV and URV for this application (including eng units)? Does the transmitter have a local indicator or are you reading the CFM on a remote display/PLC-HMI ? If it has a local indicator, how the...

Spare part list of rotork SI control valve
This is a forum where replies come from users and integrators, with few, if any, manufacturers. What you are asking for is the kind of information that the manufacturer supplies. Sometimes user manuals will have parts list but fewer and fewer devices do as time goes on (compared to 40 years...

Field communicator
Your own comments reveal that the HART and BRAIN protocols are NOT interchangeable. I would be shocked to discover that the Trex supports the BRAIN protocol. The word BRAIN does not appear in the Trex spec/product sheet. BRAIN is not an Emerson protocol (like HART is) so there is no...

Please note what Emerson says on their own website - the 475 product AND its support have been discontinued. The way I read it, DD file updates are no longer supported. https://www.emerson.com/en-us/catalog/ams-475-field-communicator

different manufacturers, same Modbus RTU syntax?
I'm in the "there are no guarantees" camp. The implementation of Modbus depends on the vendor. Some implementations are great, most are adequate, a few are awful and a few are not even conventional Modbus. Here are some issues that can arise getting different model slaves to talk to the...

Pls help me I don’t get why the sensor don’t response
The Slave address 0 is reserved for 'Modbus Broadcast mode' where all slaves internally comply with a Master command (if possible) but by Modbus Rules, no slave replies , because the network line would be jammed with multiple simultaneous replies. Function Code 03, which requires a reply with...

Pls help me I don’t get why the sensor don’t response
A Status Line Timeout error message in ModPoll means that a reply was not received in the expected time. If you're polling at the one second default polling interval, that should be sufficient time for a reply, but you could increase the polling interval to 2 seconds which should be more than...

Field communicator
Two choices I'm aware of for HART comm with field instruments for configuration and troubleshooting 1. Meriam 5150 is a full blown HART handheld communicator. Choice a general purpose or Class 1, Div 1 hazardous area models. out of the box it includes all the HART DDs as of the last...

Fluke 754 vs AMS Trex
Thank you for clarifying that Yokogawa's Brain protocol is not HART and is a proprietary protocol. Hopefully someone who has used one of these calibrators will show up and comment on your questions. I'm not sure what you mean by 'automatic calibration of a positioner'. Smart positioners use...

Fluke 754 vs AMS Trex
I am not recommending that you buy a Beamex, I'm recommending that you evaluate it like you would evaluate the other two. It might be that a more expensive calibrator saves you time and effort and is worth, but you're the one to evaluate that. I have no idea the scope of your calibrations...

Fluke 754 vs AMS Trex
For an open discussion, a BT200 is Yokogawa's handheld Brain Communicator that talks over 4-20mA to field instruments. I've never understood what Yokogawa's Brain communications involved. Is it a proprietary comm protocol for Yokogawa's instruments or is it merely a disguised name for HART...
