AUMA AC 01.2 controller, paired with SA 07.2 actuator, receives simultaneous open/close command resulting in WRN NO REACTION warning
It might be worth the effort to see exactly what the datalog logs or doesn't log. datalogs, Otherwise, you're working under assumptions, and we all know that how unproven assumptions can turn out. Is your 'controls contractor' stumped on this issue?

AUMA AC 01.2 controller, paired with SA 07.2 actuator, receives simultaneous open/close command resulting in WRN NO REACTION warning
Does the actuator datalog log remote/local and manual open/close operations?

AUMA AC 01.2 controller, paired with SA 07.2 actuator, receives simultaneous open/close command resulting in WRN NO REACTION warning
Does the actuator have a manual input for open or close that could be commanded to perform the opposite action of that called for by the PLC?

Pressure Transmitter 4~20mA and 0-10V signals
> Would you still recommend the 4 20 mA current loop if there are several signals to follow? Absolutely. The learning curve and capital investment to work with digital protocols is not worth it when 4-20mA/HART is so widely established and accepted. Case in point, a local plant that jumped on...

Using proportional control only to retransmit thermocouple signal
Thanks for jogging my memory from a long forgotten episode 30 years ago. I only ever encountered this somewhat out-of-the-ordinary controller configuration once before when a small food processor had bought a PID controller to automate the manual control of the injection pump that pumped an...

Pressure Transmitter 4~20mA and 0-10V signals
What unit is m in "30m"? 30 meters or 30 miles? Neither computes as a long distance communication solution according to the summary statements on IO-Link on the ISA site: https://www.isa.org/intech-home/2016/may-june/features/io-link-field-device-protocol-architecture "The IO-Link...

Using proportional control only to retransmit thermocouple signal
You luck out. That controller should do it. 1. PB, not gain This controller does not use gain; it uses Proportional Band (PB). Gain * PB = 100 Gain 1 = PB 100 Gain 2 = PB 50 adjusting the PB will adjust the 'span' of the control output, which Voltage value equals the temperature value.. 2...

Using proportional control only to retransmit thermocouple signal
I doubt your controller will allow you to have a gain of 0. The one on my desk goes down to 0.01, no lower. But you don't want gain of zero, you want zero reset action, because the device is a controller and controllers attempt to zero the error using reset action. You need some gain to get...

Broadcast messaging for Inverters
Except for the slave address in the message being 0x00 making it a Broadcast message, the Broadcast message is formatted the same for whatever function code is being broadcast. I recall that the Modbus spec says all devices must support broadcast mode, but I also recall reports that broadcast...

Flow Meter Recommendation
There are any number of positive displacement meters that don't care about conductivity like a magmeter does. One needs to take heed of materials for compatability with the liquid, and there is definitely pressure drop across positive displacement meter which a magmeter does not have. You...

Antivirus and Microsoft security patch update in control systems
It is my impression from discussions with DCS operators that Honeywell periodically releases authorized updates as part of their paid/subscription services after having tested the updates . If you don't have paid service for your system then the testing is your responsibility.

Krohne Flowmeters - Low flow cutoff
No direct experience with "low flow cutoff in Krohne systems" but I'll make several observations The graphic appears to be an HMI batch screen. Are you saying that this a Krohne software/HMI product? If so, which one? There are any number of stand-alone batch controllers and who knows how...

Modbus for a Newby
The value is a 32 bit floating point (FP) value consisting of four 8 bit bytes. There are four IEEE754 word/byte order formats to produce a 32 bit FP value, as shown in the graphic below from vendor documentation. The terminology varies by vendor, some call it "endianness". Out of the...

Industrial grade headlamp
In the US, the hard hats seem to have a molded 'slot' on the each side. There are a number of LED flashlights that are designed to fit into the slot on the side of the hardhat. There are hundreds of models with straps that fit around a hard hat. There are even lamps rated for hazardous areas...

Foundation Fieldbus device communication establishment process explained for the layperson
At this link https://control.com/textbook/foundation-fieldbus-instrumentation/h1-ff-data-link-layer/ there's some discussion of comm management, albeit without any sample packets, just descriptive commentary. FF is not like the Modbus protocol where the standards are public and there are...
