Temp errors!
Any chance your issue with bad temperture readings coincided with your action "for each T/C, we take a cable to connect it in ABB DCS ( just for display) and that r good!" (post #3)? Paralleling a thermocouple signal to different receivers (analog inputs on different devices) can work. The...

Vortex flowmeter vs Annubar
You need to have a vendor size each, get the sizing sheet and then decide - whether you can tolerate the Low Flow drop out (zero from 0 to 10% flow = zero), a characteristic of all vortex flowmeters. - whether the process can tolerate the permanent pressure loss of the bluff body in the vortex...

Voltage Drop Issues
2000 ft of 16g wire has 8.03 Ohms of resistance, according to the first on-line calculator that comes up in my search engine. If the valve coil needs 24Vdc ± 10%, the minimum voltage needed is 24 - 2.4 = 21.6V; a maximum voltage drop of 2.4V from a nominal 24Vdc power supply. Here's the...

Capacitance of Intrinsically Safe Cables
from post #8 "Once you have done the calculations you realise in hindsight: - never assume IS rated devices are safe" Are you implying that the agency certifying the I/S device is not doing its due diligence? Or something else? What makes an I?S device installed per its control drawing unsafe?

help needed with scale RS485 communication
RS-232 is not directly electrically compatible with RS-485. How are you going to resolve that? What does your converter convert? RS-232/RS-485? Assuming you have an RS-232/RS-485 converter, the conerter module documentation should show you how to wire the RS-232 side. RS-485 is most...

How to choose the proper instruments and equipment for an Oil & Gaz storage plant?
Instrumentation Pick a technolgy for whatever needs to be measured to be controlled. Tank gauging instrumentation for high value contents is a different class than fill/empty level measurement. For instance, are multiple temperature measurements over an elevation gradient required? Most...

Augmented Reality for Industrial Automation - Who's Actually Using It?
Where's all this truly useful data that magically appears on this heavy pair of goggles, that justifies whatever CAPEX number you're dangling in front of us, going to come from? Process instrument manufacturers cannot even get basic, critical data into their printed manuals for current...

Honeywell RC500 IO
The development software for that RTU used to be licensed and registered. An old 2010 manual is on the web with a listing of honeywell offices worldwide in the first several pages. https://kishorekoduvayur.files.wordpress.com/2017/08/honeywell_rc500_rc-scontrl_rtu_users_guide.pdf

Moore 353 Controller download
I really doubt that there was ever any other software than iConfig for the 353. If my memory is right, it took Siemens 4-5 years to update iconfig to whatever the current Windows version was at the time after they bought Moore. I don't think iConfig went beyond XP, but my memory could be...

What is control constant? How to identify constant and variables?
From a generic controls viewpoint: If a "Control Constant can be compared against a real pressure or temperature from an input to the control system, and used to generate an alarm (low pressure, for example) or high temperature (again, an example). or, if a "Control Constant can also be used...

Modbus issue
The Modbus spec has a maximum limit of 125 registers in one transaction. But that depends on server/slave implementation. There are server slaves that return as few as 10, 12, or 24 registers in one transaction. Sometimes that is not documented, one discovers the limit through empirical...

Pls help me,Slave ID of RS485 was changed
No, I can't. That's your job to find the document for your device and read it to find out whether there's a reset-to-defaults function and how such a function is implemented. It's the cost of ownership.

Pls help me,Slave ID of RS485 was changed
No, there are no devices that remember setting changes. The device might have some means of resetting All parameters to factory default settings, but there is no device I've ever run into that just resets the slave node ID number.

Short, Incomplete, and Unknown Exception Responses
Yes, the dreaded proprietary protocol, CompoWay/F, as you say, whatever that is. Good find on that thread on the complexity of Omron's Modbus RTU and port useage. Presumably the optional "Modbus" card will work as expected with the Modbus card. Out of curiosity, how did you wire the DB9...

Short, Incomplete, and Unknown Exception Responses
I initially misread the map as zero based and it is not. The statement at the bottom of the page in the SARTORIUS 1 attachment in post 1 says that the registers are one-based, starting at 40001. The master queries in post #4 are one-based addresses. The reply messages make no sense as Modbus...
