Thanks for conforming that its a hardware key. open Proficy License client and see is it detecting your hardware keys or not ? Attach the screen shot (if possible)

Cimplicity communication with Mark VIe and Mark VIes
What kind of license you have? Is it hardware dongle type key or a soft key license? If it’s a hardware key, then it should work right out of the box. Try to open Proficy License client and see is it detecting your hardware keys or not. If not, then upgrade the license client to the latest...

Setting up a VFD to unknown motor
I would prefer connecting the motor to a direct 110 V 60 Hz power supply under no load condition and measure the true RMS current in each phase & then apply a Full load and measure the currents, along with PF & RPM. Since you don’t know full ratted current from your kW, V & PF back calculate the...

Limit the power supply of the motor
If its a DC motor, then the simplest way is to have a bench power supply with current limiter feeding your motor. If its an AC motor, then use the respective controller or VFD drive, which will have the current limiter option. Or if you are designing a controller then use some thing like the one...

Modbus TCP Security compatibility
Modbus works with open data. It can communicate even to a hacker with right memory address and communication settings. There is no security for it. Hence the industry moved away from it and opted for OPC UA. Modbus is still in use to support legacy devices, where implementing OPC UA is not...

How do you create an alarm in Cimplicity?
You may refer to GEI-100626 & GEI-100620. As @WTF said its all driven by the application logic running inside the controller. Every variable has multiple attributes associated with it in its signal space. In that 1 of its attribute is Alarm. If you enable it, followed by build and download you...

To control maximum torque of a motor with VFD
I prefer to use a Vector Control for such applications. Eurotherm 605C (Now Parker drivers) will be a good economical bet !!

Did you reinitalized the Compact Flash (CF) for S controller through ToolboxST? Ensure that the CF is OEM qualified part.

MarkVIe IO Pack IP Addresses
DME stands for Device Manager Essentials. I think FieldbusGatewayStatusViewer is part of WorkstationST & it's license should work. But what I heard is FOUNDATION Fieldbus Communication DTM Interface should be enabled & FOUNDATION Fieldbus Virtual HSE Interface (for Emerson AMS and Yokogawa...

MarkVIe IO Pack IP Addresses
Great, You got most of the information right ! You need GE's DME software as well (needs separate license), you can download it from their customer portal, or ask your site representative or CPM to get it. Hope you know that. You may use the tool called "FieldbusGatewayStatusViewer" located...

MarkVIe IO Pack IP Addresses
You dont configure / set any IP address to the IO Packs. Yes, you are right! The Controller has a DHCP server which allocates the IP address. I'm not sure what is your intent here. Its dangerous to hook a laptop in an IO NET. It may detect as a intrusion and reboot / trip the machine, unless...

Motor overheating with correct VFD parameters
I would prefer measuring the current 1st with a true RMS meter or Analog clamp meter. Is it with in the ratted current ? 1.) If yes, then is the motor ratted for drive operations ? Because the VFD produces lots of harmonics. The insulation may fail ifi ts not designed for it. 2.) May be rotor is...

@GE Mark VIe control system- Workstation ST service was stopped
Try changing the password back to original and see, is it helping ? If yes then some where in the OEM software is there any way to synch or key in the password ? If it did not then it may be wiser to create a support ticket with the OEM with the respective logs.

GE Mark VI connexion issue to Wonderware Intouch
Hi dinoo31, Are you sure you are talking to GE Mark VI system or legacy GE Fanuc / GE intelligent platform's PLC ? SRTP is supported only by PLCs. I'm not aware of Mark VI system supporting it directly out of the box. In general, most of them support OPC DA/AE. Try to leverage it. If its a...

inverter output
The Speed is not only dependent up on Voltage but also frequency. The IGBT knows when to do that change over ! The drives Works on V/f (Don't get confused with sensor less vector control). The DC bus peak will be root 2 times AC rms. If you oscilloscope across the out put you will see the same...

inverter output
Your out put can't be greater than what you have in the DC link ! The PWM after the DC Link decides the current flows through the load in AC drives & not exactly the voltages. Few manufacturers add smoothing filters, so that you see them as a smooth sine wave instead of the rapid on & off pulses.

MarkVIe Vibration Block Explanation
Many OEMs protect their code with such passwords in the name of intellectual property for general public. Usually their support may have access, check with them. If you are trying to trouble shoot, then you may trend all the pins and see if it helps.

Electric motor torque control based on speed - Interaction/instability problems
MiguelS, I'm having trouble in understanding your need. Are you developing a Drive for Motor speed control and you are using 2 motors coupled back to back as your test setup ? If yes, then your torque should be in opposite direction of the speed control so that it will act as load to the speed...

GE's ControlST applications in different versions
Yes, they are downward compatible. But problem is most of the libraries will throw errors, due to their aggressive validation engine with every new versions. i.e., You can view older configurations in newer Versions, but build and download may not succeed.
