electromechanical vs hydraulics
As a rule it is the Process Engineer that determines the usage. I have used stepper motor drives though rack & pinion to give linear movement accuracy down to 1micron but able to apply force up to 10tonnes. I have used hydraulic proportional valves in a motion control application to rapidly...

SPDT switch cable
FMR62 is a high spec Radar sensor designed for SIL3 applications - and your query relates to a 2wire volt free contact cable / cores / earthing ? If it were any other sensor I would suggest 2 cores or 2 core cable. If you have an earthing diagram I would show bonding to the sensor case...

Multicore cable earth
The industries I have worked in make an assumption, whether the enclosure was outdoors or not, that bonding to steelwork would start to corrode within a few years. Indeed I’ve seen some onshore installlations where steelwork corrosion is extensive. Running earth cable to an earth terminal which...

Doubt in pneumatic system
It's some time since working with pneumatic circuits: - It's not clear to me what the non-return valve is doing, or the operator on it via 3/2 valve - It's not clear what the mid-position configuration of the 5/3 valve is If you need to remove pressure then I would have a 3/2 valve vented to...

How to Coding the speed for conveyor belt system
Assuming you have Twincat software and hardware to control the conveyor, you have a choice of programmng languages defined under IEC 61131-3. First you have to work out what speed control is needed.

Surge Protection Device vs. Grounding in Transmitters
Earthing and surge protection are 2 different areas where you should always go back to basics, then do your research. All instruments shall be grounded - define ground .... Even a small system uses several earth bars, but how do you use them ?! In any system you have to make absolutely sure...

SIL3 analog output barriers
It appears you have not seen the links ‘similar threads’ below these postings relating to SIL3 designs. The short answer is what specification you have of each barrier type making it suitable for inclusion into SIL3 designs. It’s unclear from your question what you are looking for, since a SIL3...

Would you describe nature or natural processes .e.g. rainfall as an 'automated' process?
In the initial design of any control system, there are generally areas where you have control and others where you don’t, mostly fairly obvious. A large waste water works can work out how much sewage it can handle (including future increases) but has to cater for drought conditions but more...

Laptop on screen keyboard color changed
This is not the best place to raise this issue as most of us are not computer geeks. However if your laptop is running Windows 10, I believe you should be able to take the OS (operating system) back in time before the update occurred. Should find this under ‘settings’

SIL 2 and Redundancy
Well that snookers all my experiences in the Chemical Industry ! ........ Completely fail safe - I don’t believe it . If I were involved in SIL rated designs using Durag (have used other flame detectors) I would ignore it’s certification and query why it could not fail to danger. Having done...

PLC program for Industrial Robot control
Having very fast application code scans are not the answer either - been there and done it ! Modern high end PLC’s are multi - CPU machines with only a fraction of the services supporting solving the logic of the application code. A lot is connected with comms. and data handling but most...

PLC program for Industrial Robot control
The above reminds me working for a small company in the 1980’s. They built a massive machine with lots of moving arms and hydraulic rams - all controlled from one of Alllen Bradley’s first PLC. After a very successful factory test, a mechanical engineer proficient in ‘Basic’ asked if the...

Cheap way to modulate a signal.
I’m mystified why if it is a sprayer, one would want to modulate anything connected with it. Am I missing something ?!

Daikin Modbus Cards EKFCCMBCB7
Industrial Espionage is all around us ..... so we don’t expect manufacturers to be completely open about what designs they have .... It was I the 1980’s I worked for a manufacturer who built pneumatic equipment and exported worldwide. One Middle East ‘customer’ asked for numerous spares, bill of...

Hardware Independent 24*7 Online Vibration monitoring (in pumps, motors, turbines etc.) and Analysis Application.
I concur with David_2 - there is no specific online hardware independent vibration analysis software. The hardware suppliers such as Rockwell and Bentley-Nevada have designs where the resulting data is intended to be handled locally. The nearest I could point to is HMI or small SCADA systems...

ConrolLogix 1756-L71-Allen Bradley
This must be a trick question ?! A PLC must perform safely, correctly and predictable under any possible scenarios..the L71 is no exception. Removing power from the PA72 will cause the CPU to perform an orderly shutdown before the DC supplies collapse - and does this in the order of...

Siemens have their own online training, otherwise you would be better looking at what is available in the country where you are studying.
