Need Some Help for Hydraulic Control System
Clearly the hydraulic circuit hasn't re-circulate mode; S1 appears to be the 'run' valve although to me is working upside down - energise to stop. S4 appears to regulate tension but couldn't state how without fully understanding valve symbols and not seeing the machine layout. In short you...

Connecting a Thermal Solar Plant CSP to the Medium Voltage Network
If you are connecting your CSP to a 22kV grid, not to Loads A and B directly, how do you intend to control the source of power for each load? From what I recall of ETAP Software, this will provide you with practical configurations to suit. Although I would be interested as to how '...CSP and...

Need Some Help for Hydraulic Control System
From what you have described and without seeing a hydraulic schematic, it appears the hydraulics is working at low pressure. Generally starting a hydraulic pump without energising valves goes into re-circulate mode - that is pumping fluid back into the tank, merely to be on standby/warming...

Torque Varies at Fixed Input Current for a Servomotor
It's unclear what you are asking the servomotor to do in your experiments. Are you applying constant current to a winding(s) directly, or is the motor designed to have a constant current supply? A servomotor is not a DC motor - the output torque of the servomotor may be proportional to the...

XM-220 Module via DeviceNet Config
From what I can recall, the XM-220 is configured offline then downloaded to the module. Download is direct by serial lead (RS232) or indirectly by DeviceNet - making sure the system DeviceNet address matches the module. If the module DeviceNet address is not set by 'DIP switches' and you...

PLC with Multiple Field Voltage Inputs
"a PLC will be used to control multiple field devices" ...Yes "each with its own 24V rail" ....not a good idea.. It's unclear what you are trying to achieve, but it sounds as though it is going to cause total confusion from the maintenance point of view even if it ever gets commissioned...

High Voltage Motor Temperature Rise
Have you asked yourself: 1. Has the heat exchanger changed in any way during rewind 2. Has the motor cooling fan changed If neither, then it's possible the copper in the rewind is not as conductive/not creating the same magnetic field as the original.

Plant Cyber Resiliency
This sound like an Organisation justifying it's existence. "This whole economic boom in cyber-security seems largely to be a consequence of poor engineering." I disagree - it's about lack of knowledge/understanding and educating Engineers into best practices - and I'm no better or worse than...

Developing SOP for I&C Team
It sounds as though you are starting with a blank agenda..... What do you think is vital to have - Service Manuals for every machine and as much information you can acquire on the control system would be my starting point. I'm assuming your idea of SOP (standard of procedure) is that of...

PLC Outputs - 2oo3
Not sure what you mean 'pre-packaged module as 2oo3'... Moreover it's not clear how you would design in a PLC into existing hardware - would this be something similar to Triconex? I would also be concerned when the wording (maybe by your colleagues) 'perceived reliability' is used. Is anyone...

Anyone Heard of Piecal Calibrators?
Thank you for bringing this to our attention - not heard of them before! It's described as a 'technician friendly calibrator', and presumably has a market for constant multiple process calibrations. Perhaps purchaser reviews may help in assessing value for money.

Is your plant controlled by Russia? Are you sure?
There is nothing better than Fake News to frighten the people ...... 'Is everyone asleep at the switch?' Hardly - Even the movie Die Hard 4 - now 9 years old gave the public an idea of what could happen. But is a power station going to shut down because a computer command says it has to...

Use PCS7 Instead of Teleperm XP in a Power Plant
There appears to be no logical reasoning why PCS7 should replace Teleperm XP - there are also rumours PCS7 is discontinued as a process platform. From Siemens Forum: Teleperm XP was developed by a separate division of Siemens, named Power Generation, dedicated to power plants. Teleperm XP is...

Barrier for Temperature Sensor
You've mentioned Ex.d, flameproof and isolation barrier in one go! Which method of safety is to be used? If you are using an Ex.d Junction Box, then you would have an Ex.d field sensor wired accordingly. The point is you need to know what you are doing in a possible explosive environment...

Writing simulation software for testing control software is an art in itself - but not too difficult! You want to vary some integer values? Ramp up from say zero to hundred, pause then ramp down to zero - but at what speed? Or start from an initialized value and jump to several preset values...

Need Suggestion for this Application
It appears You are looking for a process solution; and have not stated what the product is or how much cross-contamination is acceptable to the process. If on batch change you clean 75 or more feet of 2"pipe with hot water then you will have quite an end of batch wastage. I've seen steam...

Can Siemens PCS7 be considered as a True DCS?
Everyone can consider there own idea of DCS. Mine is a control system domain where numerous controllers are operating in different factory situations or locations, with none being in overall control. Any DCS system can be configured by various single PLCs networked together, and have done so...
