Very Low Frequency Grid Oscillations
drkaos... there is strong evidence that low-frequency grid-oscillations are related to the connection of large, kVAr starved, wind-Farm Induction-Generators. A good start would be to search Control.Com Archives, as well as the Internet, fr, "Power System Stabilizers." Regards, Phil Corso

Problems with Phase to Phase Heating Elements
Runescape... your Phase-to-'Earth' voltage-measurements are indicative of a "floating" system. Probably due to line-earth capacitance. The magnitudes reveal some unbalance. To eliminate the existence of a "sneak-path" between the SSR modules and earth, I suggest you take an Ohm measurement...

Problems with Phase to Phase Heating Elements
Runescape... For the present configuration what are the phase-ground voltage measurements when a "Heater-element" is On? And when it's Off? Phil

Problems with Phase to Phase Heating Elements
Runescape... Thanks for the sketch! I still don't understand how an ungrounded/unearthed supply influences Heater maintenance. Are you experiencing intermittent failures of SSR control elements? Or is the supply experiencing phase-to-ground voltage excursions? If the latter, then you can...

State Space Representation Does Not Work with Superposition Theorem
MisterMystere... further to my earlier post: 3) Does the circuit configuration consist of three (3) KVL loops, where two (2) represent sources, and the 3rd has one (1) source and a cap? Regards, Phil

State Space Representation Does Not Work with Superposition Theorem
MisterMystere... you say there are 3 input voltages, and one output voltage? 1) Did you mean the capacitor has a "charge"? 2) How is capacitor connected? Regards, Phil Corso (

Physics of ... Tap-Changer
RootBoy... Just caught a major error that I made in the "Qs equation": ORIGINAL Qs = (Vs/Xc)*[VsVr*Cos(θrº-θsº)] CORRECTED Qs = (Vs/Xc)*[Vs - Vr*Cos(θrº-θsº)] Please accept my apologies for the error. Sincerely, Phil Corso

Requirement of Separate Earthing System
Was00266... 1) All can be evaluated, but there is more emphasis on the highest kV. 2) The calculation involves kV, kA, & fault-current duration. 3) No! Earthing-grids, Mats in USA, can be individualized, but all must be "bonded" together, with particular attention paid to any...

power consumption for motor with VFD for fan application
Subhendu... additional information: The FLA of an 8-pole motor will probably be higher than that of the 4-pole motor. Thus, be sure that the motor's existing feeder-cable and protective device are adequate. Regards, Phil

power consumption for motor with VFD for fan application
Subhendu... yes, it will certainly reduce the current, that is, if the replacement motor's output rating is equal to the existing motor's rating. Caveat, It will also halve the speed, and increase the available torque from the motor. Check to be sure that the crane's hoist requirement does...
