Bob Johnston, Can you post pictures of the modification to a hosting site and then post the link to the pictures, please? THANKS!!!

Preselect Load with Remote Control
When a single-shaft gas turbine is operating at Base Load and grid frequency decreases the unit can't produce any more power. And in fact, the unit actually produces LESS power because air- and mass flow through the unit both decrease as axial compressor speed decreases. So...

Frame 5 Honeywell Flame Detectors
You may not have it now, but perhaps GENP could provide it? Also, the TCEB card and the PTBA card are both common to the flame detector circuit. It's not really clear this "fluctuation" stuff. You could try replacing those cards one at a time to see if it had any positive effect. If that...

Continuous turning gear
G.Rajesh, If the 9Es use "slowroll" or a motor-driven continuous turning gear then the dovetail ("pine-tree") wear may be a concern that wouldn't be present with hydraulic ratchet operation used with the 6Bs. Most sites I have had the pleasure of working at would like to keep the units on...

Preselect Load with Remote Control
Sean, As suspected; there is so much more to the way your plant is operated than first thought. And we STILL don't know if the unit is a 9E or 9F, single-shaft STAG, or.?.?.? I'm not the person for this job. Try contacting one of the advertisers here, MD&A Turbines, or GTC. If the load...

Learning about GE Control System
Are you working on a GE-design unit now, or know someone who is working on a Mark V-equipped unit who can send you software and drawings? Because you will likely need a dongle and Toolbox/ToolboxST software for Mark VI/VIe and that's not easy to obtain. If you can understand relay ladder...

Frame 5 Honeywell Flame Detectors
Another thought came to mind. Some Mark V panels used a low-level setting for primary mode and a high-level setting for Premix mode. This was done differently depending on the vintage of Mark V panel. Sometimes it was done in the CSP and other times (later, newer panels) it was done in firmware...

Preselect Load with Remote Control
I want to provide some clarification. First, when a gas turbine is operating on exhaust temp control it will NOT respond to grid frequency disturbances in the same way as if it were at Part Load in Droop Speed Control. Second, when Base Load is selected and active using the BASE...

Load Gear Oil Leakage GE 6B Gas Turbine
EserBP, The fact that you can decrease the severity of the oil leak by increasing the vacuum on the gear box indicates the gear box casing isn't experiencing the vacuum you think it might be. This presumes you are not measuring the vacuum at the gear box. Have you contacted the gear...

Bob Peterson, In the case of your 13-character wire number there was a specification provided that you understood and followed.

Seems like the panel builder just made two "identical" panels--especially since there was no specification about power supply. Generally, one would think two panels would get separate power supply sources, so that opening a single supply switch/breaker would not power down more than one panel...

Frame 5 Honeywell Flame Detectors
Yes, reflectivity can definitely cause problems like the one you are describing. I have never heard of "tuning" the flame detection parameters; that seems like asking for trouble when Geiger-Mueller (Honeywell) style flame detectors are used on a Mark V on a unit with DLN combustors...

otised, Thanks for your input. As is the case when managerial types are posting for help with technical questions (trying to a kind paying for technical help) we don't get complete information. It seems, after after, all the unit is not a single-shaft STAG machine and only uses "straight"...

Continuous turning gear
G.Rajesh, Running a unit continuously uses a lot of power for the auxiliaries. Some units, like Frame 7E/EAs have a condition known as "bucket rock" that results in damage to the bucket "pine trees" when left on cooldown for long periods of time. Best to consult with the OEM/packager about...

Preselect Load with Remote Control
Sean, From the information provided it appears that someone has mistakenly increased the offset between temp control FSR and speed control FSR (many people don't understand that parameter and think TNR has to go to HSS when the unit is on temp control). I don't have a CSP to look at...

How did you make your panel-builder aware the two (2) panels would be powered by the same source? So they would know the power supply wiring should have the same wire numbers? Did you confirm with your panel-builder that they understood the power source for the two (2) panels would be the...

Preselect Load with Remote Control
MIKEVI, Congratulations on MVP status--well-deserved! I believe the original poster has a single-shaft STAG unit and the droop setpoint on those units are usually 5%, sometimes 6% (hopefully otised will chime in and confirm this). So, I wouldn't be too surprised to learn such a unit (if my...

Preselect Load with Remote Control
You need to program your DCS to stop sending raises or lowers when the frequency goes outside some "window", or tell your operators to take the unit out of Remote mode when the frequency goes outside a "window." The signal(s) from the DCS are raising or lowering TNR, not the frequency excursions.
