Can a failed resistor act as a capacitor storing a charge and then slowly releasing it? I tested a set of spark plug resistor caps from a motorcycle engine. One of the set kept giving me a negative ohmic reading which would seem to indicate that there was some stray voltage. The test was done on my bench and the only source could have been the resistor itself.

 

Did you zero the meter?
