what is the use of brake accelerating capacitors?

in one of our system where thrustor brakes are used. three capacitor connected in star are connected across the thrustor motor through a contactor. these capacitors remain connected to the motor when main power contactor drops.

How these capacitors work:

| capacitor
| |
| NO |
|-------------|NC

|--------------|capacitor connected across motor
Motor

The capacitor will act like an accumulator which store extra electrical power. When the motor tries to turn, usually it has to overcome locked rotor and require extra surge energy (electrical charge).

but these capacitor never come across the supply voltage. these are connected across the motor. When ever motor runs these are out of circuit and when power contactor for motor drops these are connected across the motor.
