In my new project our customer have a request for new hardware! Change ABB AC160 to ABB AC800xA!!

I need some experience tips for the ABB AC800 since the product is quite new!

We have just installed an AC800 to our site.

The best way to look at the AC800 is like a high level PLC.

The software seems so far quite complex and a little user-unfriendly with some small changes requiring complete downloads (not good in a continuous process). I guess that the software is effectively a high level compiler to what was a standard type PLC.

This does however result in programming software capable of all the various stlyes (Ladder, SFC, Function block etc..) and a highly modularised structure.

I've yet to use the programming software in anger, I recommend a good sit down prior to writing the program in order to get a good readable structure in place.

Keep the Advant system or change to Siemens or sim
AC800xA with Function designer give me lots of problems and it seems that that the products still need to be tested at ABB factory before delivery to the sites!
