An issue occurred at an organization here in whereby the ControlNet card developed a fault.

Card Details:
Catalog/Series; 1756-CN2RXT B
Part No; PN-30150

The A & B lights on the card were solid green and the OK light was blinking green with a display showing OK. The card was showing Status: Running in RSLogix 5000.

However, all the the Flex I/Os connected to the card were showing Status: Faulted in RSLogix 5000.

Upon soft reset of the bridge card, the system began to work fine. However, significant damage had been done and critical I/Os were tripped.

Please advise on what could have happened and what can we do to prevent it from happening in the future.

Hi mhaiderkhan, without knowing what is the fault code, it is impossible to know what was happening with your Flex IO. This is an example on how to check the fault code with RSLogix 5000 is online during the problem is happening

 

A software fault in the ControlNet card can cause it to fail to manage communication with the Flex I/Os despite the card showing a "Running" status in RSLogix 5000.

 

You may need to look at RSNetWorx for ControlNet and to reupload the configuration as I've seen instances where it's lost which makes those IO cards not behave as they should. In other words, you need to re-load the config onto them.
