I have one flow switch which has dry (pontential free) DPDT contact output which is rated for 5A @ 230 VAC. I would like to use the same contact for 3A @ 24VDC. can i do that, why? if not, why? Please explain.

 

shouldn't be a problem but i would check the manufacture's web site or contact them to be sure. if it will handle 230 at 5 amps, it should handle 24 volt dc with no problem if its just a contact. if it draws some kind of operating power then it won't work
