Kassow Robots Launches App-Based Interface for Bosch Rexroth’s ctrlX OS
The new Connector App enables operators to connect and control Kassow’s robots in real time, all from a single ctrlX OS device, without PLC programming.
Kassow Robots has introduced the Connector App for ctrlX OS, enabling its robots to connect in real time with Bosch Rexroth’s automation system. This update aims to solve the common problem of complex industrial workflows by replacing traditional, PLC-heavy robot setups with a simpler, app-based approach.

From PLC Dependency to Real-Time Access
Before, adding Kassow’s robots to the ctrlX environment meant using PLC programming, usually with CODESYS. This integration provided limited real-time interaction, making the design more difficult. The new Connector App eliminates this need by allowing Kassow’s seven-axis robots to connect directly to the ctrlX OS. The integration uses the ctrlX Data Layer to stream data in real time, enabling engineers to manage, monitor, and adjust robots from a single location.
The app is designed for both developers and on-site operators. It lets users control Kassow robots directly from ctrlX OS devices, with features like connecting or disconnecting robots, viewing live data, sending motion commands, jogging for setup, and managing alarms. Because all data is in one place, other ctrlX OS apps can also check robot status or trigger actions, making it easier to run multiple systems together.
The Connector App changes the system architecture by replacing separate controllers, PLCs, and safety units with a single, centralized setup. Engineers can now manage motion, safety, robot functions, and data processing from one ctrlX OS device. This reduces complexity and makes setup and long-term maintenance easier.

Mobile Robots and Multi-Technology Integration
The Connector App also supports mobile automation by working with Bosch Rexroth’s ROKIT Robotic Kit. This support lets robots operate with navigation systems, vision modules, grippers, and HMIs.
The setup enables coordinated tasks such as palletizing and bin picking in mobile robotics, where precise movement is critical. Keeping everything within the ctrlX OS environment helps reduce communication delays and integration problems.
Software-Defined Robotic Integration
As part of Bosch Rexroth, Kassow Robots is helping expand ctrlX Automation’s reach into robotics. The company is moving from hardware-specific control to a unified, platform-based system.
By treating robotics as an app within ctrlX OS, the platform is becoming an industrial operating system. This makes it easier for devices and services to connect through standard interfaces. The solution is ideal for engineers who want to spend less time on integration and more time improving their work. The app is available in the ctrlX OS ecosystem and runs on compatible devices, such as ctrlX CORE controllers.
