You don't provide identification of which instrument is in question, so "generic-isity" will have to apply.
E&H Micropilot's radar level unit's manual at

on page 101 lists F283 error as a high level, diagnostic "Fault" message related to the unit's electronics indicating that the data value is not valid. You can see the "remedy" below: transferring data, resetting the device or contacting service. No, I do not know what the manual means by "transferring data".
Page 97 shows "Diagnostic information on local display" has the statement that the "measured value is no longer valid".
My experience shows that whether or not your instrument is a Micropilot or some other E&H Fieldbus instrument, the error codes will be the same across different models.
The instrument might fixed by replacing an electronic module. No, I don't know which electronic module or how to order one.
