Does anyone know if there is a summary of the IP (Ingress Protection) ratings that could be used for reference... i.e. when someone says they have product designed to IP67, what does that mean?

Are there conversions from IP ratings to NEMA classifications?

Thanks.

<p>Ingress protection (IP) ratings are always 2 numerical digits, where the first refers to protection against solids (including hands/fingers) and the second liquds. Tables of NEMA ratings, IP ratings and a rough comparison of the two follow:

1 General purpose, indoor, prevent accidental contact
2 Dripproof, indoor
3 Dusttight, raintight, sleet-resistant

6 Submersible up to 6 feet for 30 minutes
7 Explosion proof, air break equipment
8 Explosion proof, oil immersed equipment
