Ours is Fr 6FA GE Machine. After 70000 hrs of running Major inspection was carried out. Is it necessary to balance the rotor before putting the machine in to service? Buckets were of course factory balanced and site assembled to the rotor. we are facing vibration problem at gearbox. kindly clarify.

Radial runout is not a readily available measurement on GE-design heavy gas turbines.

Trying to give vibration balancing and/or alignment instructions with no more information than was given is virtually impossible. We don't even know what the vibration maximums are.

There should be capable parties onsite to help with balancing/alignment after such an outage.

 

Sorry I wasn't clearer. I meant during re-assembly?
