a GE 7E Gas turbine (60 MW) is designed with two spark plugs in combustion chambers 1&2. the spark plug#2 has excessive leak.

could we use only one spark plug and blind spark plug#2 temporarily (waiting for material).

Thx

It's okay if that doesn't fail in any of it's igniting attempt. i.e. during start-up and loading-deloading.

Dear Mohd,

not that it is entirely important, but I think the plugs are usually located in cans #1 and #10. You should be able to operate with only one spark plug, two are basically for redundancy, the crossfire tubes should assure flame travels to all cans from a single plug/can.

Blinding the leaking plug should not cause any huge issues. There will be a change in airflow to the can with the plug that is blocked off since the hole in the liner will not have the plug blocking part of it, so you may see a change in emissions due to this.

Watch emissions, exhaust spreads etc. when running and return the unit to normal operation as soon as possible, but if your unit needs to run you should be able to do so with one plug until you can get parts.
