We Jordan Bromine Company intend to install a 15Mw Gas Turbine Genrator to be synchronized with National Grid. We want the Generator to take the maximum load. We have concern regarding the stability of the Generator when working isolated from the grid where there is possibility of disconnecting a 10MW load instantaneously. We need to know the best control arrangment to guarantee the generator stability in this case and keep feeding the other loads.

Appreciate to elaborate on this issue in details and the measures that we should take.

You need Voltage and frequency control for island operation. we have PLC/SCADA based Eenergy Management System (EMS) for generator control. The solution for your query is to implement EMS in your system.

The biggest issue is trying to make sure your frequency and voltage is exactly sychronized. I am in the Air Force and we do a lot of load sharing with generators. Make sure you are aware of cross phasing and too much load on one phase that will knock your generator offline everytime.
