hi ,

i am working in a combine cycle power plant, we have gas turbine make GE 9FA. now coming to the question, Gt exhaust mass flow ranges in between 600 to 620 kg/sec at base load. can some one explain me how they are calculating the mass flow rate at exhaust? and the inlet mass flow rate is always near about 1000lbs there also how they are measuring the flow rate.how can one co-relate these two?

The exhaust gas flow is essentially the inlet air flow plus the fuel flow plus any water/steam injection flow. So after firing, it will always be greater than the inlet air flow.

 

thanks. but my question is how the inlet flow is measured (means which equipment or any method to measure gt inlet air flow)?
