We are using a Honeywell system of TPS model, when i tried to load on a new PC it is not able to be loaded, and it is written on the CD, that the software works on only certain PCs of Dell such as GX series and WKS series which are declared as obsolete by DELL. So please help me to install the TPS software to load on New PC, and the local Honeywell office also become helpless in this regard.

You can use any pc to load as GUS console, as long as you configure LNP driver correctly.

Make sure you installed the GUS personality meeting your existing LCN release. Don't forget to ensure the MAU and its cable working properly.

We have GUS systems installed on Dell GX1 Optiplex PCs declared obsolete by Dell way back and no longer supported by Honeywell local offices even.....

However, with the common IBM compatible PC, you should be able to connect to the LCN without any problem if you have the original set of CDs with you..... The PC would also be identified as a valid node on the LCN but it would not be possible to connect to the HOPC server..... The graphics would therefore not connect...... So if you want to configure the it as just a node to view the system status or do some engineering etc, it should be possible but if you want to use it to see the graphics, it wont be of any use......

We are 'forced' to phase out our existing GUS systems, despite their excellent and trouble free performance because of GX1's obsolescence..... And Honeywell TPN software would not run completely on anything else except Dell...... Sometimes I feel that this 'binding' condition defeats the entire claims of open architecture...... Even the new upgraded workstations are Dell and Honeywell has clearly stated that even the new version will not work on anything but Dell Platforms..... Dell has a policy of ending their product support after nearly 5-6 years...... and it wud be the same story all over again......

Actually you should be able to use graphic in your GUS. I guess you replaced your existing GUS, so that you did not need to configure your NCF. Maybe you can use some checklist below:

- Your GUS software is same with other GUS on LCN. Your GUS pictures may not run if you use different version.

- GUS personality already installed meeting your LCN release. It should be put together with &Z1 (TPN software). You will never be able to load your GUS console as GUS if you did not install this personality.

- Make sure you load your GUS from Windows (W), not from NET, 1,2, or X

- All external modules loaded successfully from NET>&CUS> folder

- GUS status in your dekstop (bottom right) is green, if not please try to log-off then login again

- If you have GUS picture registry, you have to install it too

Some Honeywell customers did it successfully in my country.
