How to connect Yokogawa power meter to Computer.

I have Yokogawa WT230 Power meter with RS232 port for communication (D25 type). On the computer side we have 9pin COM port. We tried to communicate with the defined 8 pins in the manual provided for the power meter. With no input signals connected to the meter and power ON, how to know that the meter is communicating to the computer. Also we have this front end software installed on our computer - WT viewer 5.01 provided by the Yokogawa. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
