I would be your eternal debtor, if anybody can recommend or more better send me a information, about a practical calculation of liquid or oil cooled PMSM ( Wiring, Dimensions, Magnetic, Thermal and Performance calculation, Testing, Analyse, Optimization, The most important points of design.)
I know many scintific publications about this area...but unfortunatly, there are so big gaps between a theory and pructical using.To retranslate theoretical material we have to spend lot of time, power, intellect. A company invests money, we make design, they call it know-how... the story repeats itself again and again.
I am designing a PMSM in power dimension 8 - 30 kW, and I have already a motor - designed for 8 kW application (you can imagine the motor 3 times smaller as asynchron motor 8-kW). We've got serial test, all was O.K. I mean power, torque, thermal conditions ,it seemd as good results, after that we decided to make crash-test... 3 time overload with intensive cooling... 4 hours and no crash..after that I've calculated performance and watt loss... in such conditions we nave to lose im the motor until 25-30% of input power , but if I compare input and output power characteristics we had not more as 15% watt loss. OK - Next time we check the motor as generator driving the motor with same RPM and loading the output... we got same characteristics as before crash-test, therefore I can resume the magnets are OK - no demagnetisation effect. Now I am quite confused, I am sure the motor has been calculated for optimal dimensions and wiring requirement...
It is only one example of cases that we have everyday..
I am planing to collect as much as possible a practical advices, literatur, calculating's tables, and put it somewhere in web..
