I, too, have pondered the term 'cable schedule' and wondered how the word 'schedule' came to be used to describe a list of cables used in a plant or building and where each cable goes between. Some cable schedules also include conductor (core) termination details.

Cable schedules are primarily used during construction and are also very useful during retrofits and upgrades and even simple modifications.

Technical English, particularly as "practiced" by Americans, can be very perplexing.
