I am looking for a sensor that will detect an 1/8" drill bit in the center of a 2x2 board while on a conveyor moving 200 ft per min. any ideas.

 

2x2 inches or 2x2 feet?

I assume you are talking about a rubber belt. Ramsey Rec makes a metal detector for mining application that would detect that on maximum sensitivity. Some of the better ones spray a spot of dye onto the belt to help locate the object.

If your conveyor has metal rollers these can be a problem for the detector.

The food industry use metal detectors as well to check for metal in packages.
