Dear CSV/PV and others,

Ours is a Fr6 - Mk5 HMI control turbine. There was TC2KREPT file (IO Report) under start menu along with Alarm report and alarm txt files. Now the file is not found under this menu. How to get this file back in start menu? for quick viewing. Can I go to IO.ASG file and then drag and drop into the "start" menu. Pls advice...Thanx...

ESKAY,

This is a recurring problem for you, and it's not even a GE Mark V Speedtronic problem.

What happened to cause these files to disappear from the Start Menu?

In other words, solve the cause of the problem and you won't have this problem any more.

Have you used the Windows Explorer 'Find' feature to locate the "lost" file by searching all the hard drives on the GE Mark V HMI?

I would venture to say that the TC2KREPT.TXT file is NOT missing from the HMI hard drive. The MS-Windows shortcut to the application to open the file has somehow been deleted from the MS-Windows Start Menu.

While IO.ASG is related to TC2KREPT.TXT, dragging and dropping IO.ASG anywhere isn't going to have any effect on TC2KREPT.TXT.

Are you, or is someone at your site, clicking on the "Build Turbine Control" or "Build Toolbox" or whatever that stoopid Start Menu selection is that wipes out any previous configuration? (If that selection is available, I suggest you DELETE it as quickly as possible, because it was only intended to be used once. But GE forgot to tell the TAs to remove it once it was used.)

As for adding shortcuts to documents or applications or programs to a MS-Windows Start Menu, that is strictly a MS-Windows function. It's not peculiar or specific to a GE Mark V HMI.

Find someone who knows how to add shortcuts or applications of files to an MS-Windows Start Menu and get them to put the desired items back where you desire them to be.
