Modbus TCP version of Simocode

Hi All,
We have a client who is currently using Siemens Simocode for drive I/O. This is then fed to a Profibus Master Controller and on to the DCS.

However, the new standard is to interface with the Honeywell C300 controllers over Modbus TCP/IP.

Consequently, we are looking for something similar to the simocode but preferably with Modbus TCP output rather than Profibus. After much hunting, I'm not sure if this exists.

We are reluctant to use Profibus-Modbus gateways/converters due to cabinet space limitations and, as always, extra cost, but if that ends up as the only solution, so be it.

The icing on the cake would be a solution that acts as a data concentrator as well.

Can anyone provide advice?

I don't think you understand the role of SIMOCODE. Look at this website:

Simocode seems to be the drive intelligence for a series of Siemens drives, and depends upon the use of Profibus-DP. You seem to be at the edge of conversion from Siemens PLCs for control of the process to use of Honeywell C300. I suggest you seek help from Honeywell to see if they, or a third party, offer a Profibus-DP interface for output to the drives.

I know that Emerson DeltaV depends upon use of Modbus for most third-party I/O, but they now offer a Profibus-DP interface as well. Perhaps Honeywell does too.

The Simocode is indeed drive intelligence, but is not specific to only Siemens drives. It is not dependant on Profibus-DP, but that is simply the protocol that Siemens chose to use.

We are managing ABB drives and Siemens switchgear. The goal is to move comms to an ethernet layer, ideally getting away from the use of Profibus completely. The C300 controller does offer a Profibus interface module, which may be our end solution.

I am speaking to a vendor about the Sixnet modules as well...
