We have a wireless sensor system and we are working with a utility to deploy these sensors on some equipment. The utility is requiring that our sensor receiver plug into their network using DNP protocol.
We have studied the DNP protocol and we can implement it in our receiver - but it will take several week of coding to do that. We are not ready to do that during this proof of concept phase. We would like to use some sort of programmable module between our sensor receiver and the DNP port that can take the RS232 serial output of our receiver and convert it to DNP so that we can plug into a DNP port at the utility.
Is there some sort of hardware device we can use to do this conversion? Someone suggested we purchase a low-end PLC that could do this. Does anyone know of a module that will do this "serial data to DNP" conversion?
