How many Points limitation per OPC Server / Client Communication? We have 3 GTs (Gas Turbines) Controller communicating with Emerson DCS and occasionally it freezes/ stop updating points at Emerson. Currently we are sending almost 1800 Points per GT Controller. Three GT Controllers are connected to OPC Servers (Red Computers) and talking to 2 DA OPC Client & 2 AE Clinet (1 Per Primary and 1 Per Back up Controller)
Any help on said issue, Please.

 

Can you give us more information on this:

How many points are you currently polling?
What's the update rate?
What's the part# and manufacturer of the GT Controllers?

Quite a possibility. OPC clients normally register opc data item in a group and everything will be ok as long as the connection is intact. During switchover, your redundancy manager might be loosing connectivity with opc servers. We faced similar issues while trying to interface many opc servers through a gateway. Try to find out if your redundancy manager has got latest firmware updates (irrespective of make of opc servers and client, i suspect on redundancy manager)
