Hello friends

I am working in Mark V controlled GT frame 9E machine. My question is Combustion monitoring and controlling is within the markV speedtronic control system. where as in Mark VIe why do we need a special module called PAMB and PAMC used with UCCA and UCSA respectively.

Can anybody come forward to clarify this

Thank you

prakash,

The module you are referring to was, for a while, an option. People could purchase the ability to monitor the dynamic pressure pulsations (acoustic monitoring) for a fee.

I believe that some of GE's turbine packagers, and even GE's remote monitoring & diagnostic center(s) now require the ability on some units.

Depending on the application and fuels and fuel variability the ability to monitor dynamic pressures in the combustors in real time is very critical to pinpointing problems early, and in helping to tune (sometimes dynamically, in real time, also) to control emissions output.

There have been several Mark V-equipped units (usually F-class machines) retrofitted with a Mark VIe-based acoustic monitoring system. But, it operates independently of the Mark V; it just augments the Mark V by providing real time dynamic pressure pulsation monitoring and reporting (and possibly, recording through a Historian).

Hope this helps!
