PLC isn't receiving the right amount of NumChars via RS-232

Needs help for a controls rookie.

I've been trying to set up the scales to be read on PLC and HMI. There are 2 scales currently working fine and 2 new scales that aren't being read in Data View. Both of the scales are connected through P2-SCM (AutomationDirect) near a P2-Remote Slave and the NumChars received is only 1. I tried many things to troubleshoot but not much progress so far. I tried connecting said scales at the P2-SCM near local CPU where the working scales are plugged in and they worked fine (NumChars = 16) but if I plug in another P2-SCM on the same rack as the local CPU they would receive only 1 NumChar as well. Tried messing around with the scales setting but alas.

Anyone knows what's happening here or any suggestions moving forward?

TIA.

Sounds like it is the configuration of the P2-SCM, check baud rate, bits, termination character is all setup the same as the working P2-SCM.
