QNX operating system seams to offer unparalleled reliability. To date apart from having difficulty finding any SCADA/DCS package that can run in QNX OS, there are no faults with the system. I wonder has anyone used this in real Process Control applications (safety critical)? and what problems if any have you encountered?

 

You can contact DATAC Control who delivers a SCADA system called Realflex running on QNX4, which is very stable and easy to use.

Please check Altersys.com. Their product Isagraf Enhanced (soft logic DSC) is running under QNX (HMI under Windows). We had used this system for control big (220 t/h) steam and hot water boilers and boiler houses without problems (critical control systems). You can get milliseconds time resolution and lot of advantages of IEC 61131-3 languages.
