Reading Energy meters data

We are upgrading automation system of our plant. I need to interface 20 energy meters with quantum 534 PLC and read data like kW, kWh, volts, Amps etc. Can anyone help me in finding electronic energy meters (CT and PT connection) which have any standard communication like Modbus, profibus or any other satndard communication? A few energy meters I have explored over the internet are simply too expensive. I am looking for some energy meters which cost arround 500 euro.

You should talk with Mr. Jorn Sorensen in Mexico City Phone 56 39 31 36, We purchase energy meters with Modbus protocol around 600 usd.

I worked with a quiet few energymeters a couple of years back - Alacrity, Ducati, Enercon. They use rs485/rs232 communication.

did you try the multitek M550?

This model seems perfect for your application yet I dont know the price. I've been looking up for power analyzers recently and the best the i could find that would meet our specs were priced at about $8,000, but we needed a relatively fast update rate (at least 30 readings/sec). The cheaper models ranged from about $900 to slightly over $1,900 but they all had a RS232 interface instead of RS485 so i don't think they'll be of any use for you.

hi

we are dealing in electronics energy meters (CT and PT connection) with modbus protocol, linkage with RS-485 and through Lan setup. We have a standardized software to read the values of KW, KWH, VOLTS, FREQUENCY, etc. For further detail please free to contact on [email protected]

I understand you can get a full function meter with Modbus capability for about $2000 Canadian.

I have used their more advanced models ($7-10k) using both Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU. Connection to a PLC and an I/O server were both very easy.

Thank to all who replied to my post. The matter is now settled and I found energy meters in the targeted budget with Modbus communication. These are installed and communicating well. We purchased PML 6200.

Electro Industries make a new product that is significantly less than 500 Euros and it provides you a revenue grade multifunction energy meter with modbus protocol. It is very easy to use, small and the modbus map is intuitive when mapping into PLCs. The unit is a Shark 100 and it start at around 300 euros or less.
