Serious Troubles with Embedded Hardware

Embedded software issues seem to be manageable but hardware issues are DAMN TOUGH to UNDERSTAND.

Any Web resources or good books available? One book is DESIGNING EMBEDDED HARDWARE by John Catsolis, but it is very primary and not matched with any job profiles.

Simple if you have the background and only superficially understandable if you don't, embedded hardware is not remarkably different from standard hardware, whatever that is. Electronics in general and computing basics plus a study in microprocessors are what's needed.

I don't think any single book can be broad and deep enough to get you to the point of dealing with some of the issues with embedded hardware. In any standalone computer, no matter what the size, there is a lot going on. And most of the issues deal with very technical interaction with the real world. If you find a silver bullet to understand the end product without understanding the fundamentals, be sure to let us know.
