Servo drive tripping earth leakage circuit breaker

Is it normal to experience nucience tripping of the ELCB controlling the circuit which feeds a m/c which contains servo drives??

I am unsure as to whether I have an earth leakage on my drive.

Any device that has leakage current to earth will cause an elcb to trip. This can include vsd variable speed drive.

You need to check your electrical regulations/law to see if this must be on an ELCB. If the law permits then put this on a circuit that does not have ELCB ( or put an ELCB of a higer rating 300mA )

If the law says it must be on ELCB you may have to use an isolatig 1 to 1 transformaer to prevent the tripping.

hope this comment helps.

I would not call it normal, however, I have seen this from time to time.

I would check your motor wiring and seen if there is any insulation scuffing or is otherwise damaged. In many cases just replacing the motor wiring is simpler than trying to inspect it. This can be cause by using inappropriate wire (such as using MTW in conduit) or to small of a conduit, or even not lubricating the conductors when they are being pulled.
