Dear All

I saw an experience person was fitting copper bus bars. but to remove the hardner of copper he was heating up (red hot) the bus bar before fitting.

Would there be any change in electrical Characteristic?

Saheed...

Bringing copper-bus to annealing temperature will restore its ductility without harming its electrical, chemical, and mechanical properties!

CAVEAT, make sure other devices, like CTs and connecting hardware (eg, Belleville-Washers) are not attached!

obviously the mechanical properties are altered as it is more ductile.

the electrical properties are only modified to the extent that the copper is heavily oxidized in course of bringing it up to temperature.

that is usually not a serious problem as long as all electrical contacts are properly cleaned and protected and clamped.
