Three fuel frame 6 GT

We have duel fuel frame 6 GT distillate and crude oil with mark V control and <I> under dos interface. We want to make it three fuel gas?

If I understand your query, you want to know if you add gas fuel to a machine that currently burns distillate and crude oil.

The answer would be yes; there are many machines that operate and gas, distillate and crude.

But it's not inexpensive. And a simple file won't accomplish the task.

And GE wouldn't likely support making the changes to a machine with an <I>. They would probably insist you upgrade your <I> to a GE Mark V HMI. Unless you have a supply of ISA-bus ARCnet cards you are going to need to upgrade your <I> to some other operator interface, either GE Mark V HMI, or some other compatible system, hopefully before the <I> or the ARCnet card in the <I> fails.

Let us know how you fare with your conversion.

If your environmental authorities require the gas fuel system to be DLN, there is a strong possibility you will have to change the control to Mark VI or Mark VIe. Not to mention the impact of a rather large change to the combustion system.

Thank you very much for you reply, but our <I> Interface is working fine there is no need to change it. We need to edit SRC and adding pushbutton for Gas fuel selection to the graphic screen or if anybody has IDP file for frame 6 GT with triple fuel it will be very helpful. We can use it as reference for modifying.

My comment was about the Mark V control. If you need the Dry Low Nox version of gas fuel, the Mark V control may not have sufficient capacity to handle it. However, if that is required, it will likely not be economically attractive to add gas fuel.

Thank you very much for your reply. Our system is not DLN.

All we need is to modify the SRC and Graphic. If we have IDP file of any frame VI with triple fuel, we can use it as reference during modifying Our file

Unless you modified your turbine using the same auxiliaries and inputs/outputs as the example file you are asking for, the files would have to be modified further to match the auxiliaries and inputs/outputs being used on your system.

What you're attempting to do is something that companies charge for. Admittedly, you might be able to do the same thing yourself, but in adding a new fuel to the turbine you really should be asking a large control system integrator or OEM or OEM authorized packager to review the internal firing temperatures and fuel nozzle sizing to optimize turbine performance and parts life.

While your <I> may be operating just fine today, remember: That legacy (ISA-bus) ARCnet card in your <I> is no longer manufactured nor available from any other than a NOS (New Old Stock) or used parts supplier. If (and when) it fails, it's going to take a fair amount of time to obtain a suitable operator interface replacement from any supplier, and the number of suppliers is slim.

So, step back and take a look at the bigger picture. You'll find that while you may be able to cut-and-paste some sequencing and displays you might not be optimizing the turbine power and performance, and in fact, you may over-fire the turbine which would result in premature failure of hot gas path parts.
