I VE RECENTLY REALIZED THAT, WHEN I CHOOSE "GLAND ON" ON THE MKV SCREEN; GLAND SEAL STEAM LEAKS THROUGH THE V2 EXTRACTION VALVE INTO THE TURBINE. I THINK, IT IS UNUSUAL THING SINCE I CANT PRESSURIZE THE GLAND STEAM LINE BECAUSE OF THIS LEAKAGE. HOWEVER, MY COLLEAGUES CLAIMED THAT LEAKAGE THROUGH V2 VALVE IS NATURAL AND BY LEAKING STEAM IT IS HEATING INSIDE.

WHAT IS YOUR IDEA?

 

My idea is to have a look at the P&IDs provided with the steam turbine to see if there is any indication of gland sealing steam being used for heating purposes during warm-up.

Or even the instruction manuals provided with the turbine; there used to be a document for GE Steam Turbines called the 'Line-up Instructions' that had a lot of really good information that was usually in one of the manuals.
