Hello,

We have MS5001, GEC Alstom, it says GE Colony. What is GE Colony?

thank you

GE (General Electric USA) had Manufacturing Associate agreements with a number of international suppliers. Under these agreements, the international supplier purchased the rotor and hot gas path parts from GE USA. The international supplier built the rest of the machine, and was permitted to sell it as a GE design gas turbine. Alstom was one of these international suppliers. (Others included John Brown, Hitachi, Nuovo Pignone [prior to GE USA owning them], Thomasen, AEG, and Kvaener Brug.)

Eventually, GEC (General Electric Ltd, UK, not related to GE USA) merged with Alstom to become GEC Alstom. Still later, GEC Alstom was purchased by ABB. After that, since ABB was a direct competitor of GE USA, GE purchased the gas turbine business of the former GEC Alstom. And still later, ABB spun off their turbine businesses and kept the electronics and electrical equipment businesses. Alstom is still manufacturing steam turbines, and the Brown Boveri design gas turbines. The GE design gas turbines, manufactured in Belfort, France, are retained by GE USA.

So, your MS5001 was manufactured by GEC Alstom to GE USA design, and has GE USA built rotor and hot gas path parts. Controls, I'm not sure what you have. Sometimes the control was purchased from GE USA, sometimes from Cogenel (Italy); other sources may also have been used.
Hope this helps.
