What is the purpose of Ex d Ex e dual certified cable glands?

Hi,
I am writing to seek clarification regarding the requirement for Ex d Ex e dual certified cable glands as specified in our project documentation (Foster Wheeler specification). We have procured Ex d certified cable glands for use with our Ex d certified junction boxes. However, our client has rejected these glands, insisting on dual certification.

Upon reviewing IEC 60079-14:2024, it is evident that Ex d glands are permissible for use with both Ex e and Ex d junction boxes. Given this, I am unable to understand the necessity for dual certification in this context.

Could you please provide the exact reason for this requirement? Your guidance will help us ensure compliance with the project specifications and avoid any further delays.
