X-Term replacement

I'm looking for a solution PC+Software to replace an X-Terminal used to operate an OWP Console from a PROVOX (Emersonprocess) DCS.

I've seen ReflectionX (WRQ) to be used to access an AlphaServer (DCS's Engineering Workstation) from a PC, and it seems that I can use it to emulate the X-Terminal and replace the X-Term hardware.

Are there any other options?

If by a PC+Software X-Terminal you mean a conventional X-11 system, then yes there are plenty of options. The most obvious is Linux, almost all versions of which use "X" as the graphics system and can act as X terminals.

The problem I see with replacing the xterminals with other software such as reflection is that I don't think you will be able to use the alarm interface unit, so there will be no audible alarms for the operator.

A different solution would be to buy an OPC software package called ProDirect from tips, which will allow Provox Data to be accessed through OPC. Then you could rebuild your screens in the HMI of your choice (RSVIEW, Wonderware, Etc)
