ABB Robotics and NAMTECH To Establish School of Robotics
ABB Robotics has partnered with NAMTECH to establish a School of Robotics. This initiative aims to bridge India's education gap in automation by enhancing robotics skills and facilitating industry integration.
ABB Robotics, the global robotics and automation solutions supplier, has partnered with the New Age Makers' Institute of Technology (NAMTECH), an institute focused on bridging the gap between industry requirements and educational frameworks. The goal of this partnership is to establish a School of Robotics to enhance technical proficiency and increase employment in India. According to Subrata Karmakar, President of ABB India’s Robotics & Discrete Automation Division, this initiative is crucial for preparing the next generation of workers with industry-critical skills for an increasingly automation-driven landscape.

Robotics and Automation Education
According to the International Federation of Robotics, India deployed 8,510 industrial robots in 2023. This marked a 59% increase in industrial robotic installations from 2022, putting India seventh in annual robot installation globally. With the expectations of an upward trend to continue in the coming years, automation-related skills will be increasingly necessary for in-demand careers such as robotics engineers, application engineers, and smart factory designers.
NAMTECH's vision is to help grow the next generation of engineers adept in robotic and automation technologies. The institute focuses on Industry 4.0, sustainability, and management principles and features five specialized schools, soon to include the newly established School of Robotics. Each school collaborates with key industry players and is supported by global academic partners, ensuring a comprehensive educational approach.

ABB Robotics and NAMTECH's School of Robotics
The School of Robotics, established via the partnership between NAMTECH and ABB Robotics, aims to deliver a cutting-edge curriculum that emphasizes practical, industry-relevant training taught by global professionals. The school will feature specialized faculty and state-of-the-art facilities and is focused on knowledge dissemination, research collaboration, and immersive experiences in the industry.
With ABB’s commitment to close the gap in robotics and automation education and NAMTECH’s progressive strategies for in-demand industrial education, the collaboration to open the School of Robotics seeks to prepare India’s up-and-coming workforce for the demands of the automation industry. To achieve this, the school will provide a structured curriculum with the goal to cultivate talent for future demands while providing a fundamental understanding of robotics and integration. Ultimately, the collaboration represents a strategic investment in India's future, supporting the growing need for skilled professionals in an ever-evolving industrial landscape.
