Advantech, a leading provider of industrial automation solutions, has announced the global launch of HMINavi. The new launch features an open software designed for human-machine interface (HMI) applications. Advantech has focused on making HMINavi versatile and scalable with specific design considerations for the industrial market.

A New HMI Solution from Advantech

HMINavi is capable of operating on any x86 Windows system, a very common processor. Advantech offers both offline and online modes, allowing users to design and test HMIs efficiently for site-specific integration. This launch is a key step in Advantech’s ongoing efforts to support the advancement of Industry 4.0 technologies for its customer base.

HMINavi: Reimagining Industrial Control Systems

Advantech is looking to take advantage of the growing need for advanced HMI solutions as the automation industry moves further and further into digital transformation. The advancement of smart machinery and increased reliance on the use of data in industry has opened up a unique place for scalable HMI solutions.

The new HMINavi HMI software set has been designed with the fast-paced, modern industrial environment in mind. The new system includes advanced visualization features with more than 60 customizable tools and displays real-time data using tools like historical radar charts and interactive dashboards for monitoring and control.

HMINavi can be connected with over 500 PLC protocols for real-time data collection and local processing using edge computing. It also supports real-time data logging for process analysis, flexible recipe management, and a full alarm system with up to 128 alarm blocks.

For edge-to-cloud connectivity, HMINavi uses the MQTT protocol for secure data transfer, OPC UA for standardized data exchange, and integrates with major cloud platforms for advanced analytics. Security is enhanced with multi-layered protection, including file encryption, detailed user access control, audit trails, and secure remote access.

HMINavi Features

The software is designed for use on Advantech HMI panels designed for tough environments, featuring rugged, IP66-rated front panels and a wide operating temperature range (-15°C to 65°C). The included high-resolution displays (up to 1920x1080) ensure clear data visualization, along with dual Ethernet ports and multiple serial interfaces for flexible connectivity. The HMINavi is designed to run well on any x86 Windows platform, but it works best when paired with Advantech's WOP series operator panels.

Advantech HMIs offer multiple options for Ethernet and serial interfaces for flexible connectivity. Additionally, HMINavi Runtime is included at no extra cost with WOP panels, providing added value for Advantech users, while a runtime license is required for other x86 platforms. The HMINavi is currently available to the global market and includes support from the Advantech global sales team, this includes comprehensive training and technical support when needed.

Looking Ahead

Advantech wants to be a part of their customers’ move forward into the future of automation. This includes helping them futureproof their automated systems with things like scalable equipment including the HMINavi that can evolve with manufacturers processes.

Users can also expect increased efficiency, reduced cost, and enhanced remote monitoring capabilities. Firsthand users have already noted many of these benefits, especially in situations that occurred unexpectedly or when managing operations from several locations.
